no way... that thing's really getting built? It looks like it should be long in some type of sci-fi movie.

where exactly is the construction site?

ok i get it. i think it's an underground mausoleum. the last picture has grid boxes along the spiraling walls. each box is a space for an urn. it's a really cool design, more like a slick museum. i hope it gets built.

The client have signed the contract with Ando Tadao. Therefore, it is going to build, but it take time.

安藤忠雄今天來台,發表他第一座墓園建築作品。這座墓園位於三芝鄉,面積廣達26公頃,造價超過100億台幣,預計8到10年完工。

墓園建築主體有一半低調隱藏於地下。主體之上是為直徑81公尺之巨大水盤,象徵一面鏡子映照周遭自然美景;同時向下奔流成為高12公尺,寬90公尺的水瀑。內部則以空間螺旋狀的階梯與各樓層連結,並從頂部灑下的靜謐光線。安藤表示,這個紀念空間的靈感是來自羅馬萬神殿。

為了達成安藤要求的「蝶飛櫻舞」,業主龍巖人本與台大植物系、生物系教授合作,購下10000坪的土地,專門用來培育嬌貴的吉野櫻。同時研究蝶類的食草及蜜源植物,在墓園周邊以人工方式先行種植,吸引蝴蝶遷徙。

why would it take 8 to 10 years to build this 'hole' in the ground?
they r not building the great wall. whats the deal?! rolling eyes

The whole project is not only this underground construction, it is also include cherry blossoms garden. This project is 26 hectares so it take a long time to complete.
