Siding is started on the lodge. It's brown; I'm hoping that it's just the color of the skirt. The yellow in the renderings was nice. JET

Is the exterior (or more) now completed?

Nope. Not yet. I walked by today on my way to work and the wood shingles are about 3/4 of the way up one side of the lodge and only about 1/3 up the other side. The balconies have yet to be completed on the front. There are still wires hanging out for the vents and non of the trim on the building has been done. I think this one is still gonna take a fair time to complete.

I walked by yesterday and it is coming along. Most of the shingles have been put up on the Lodge and they have started adding the roof line trim ( I know there's a proper word for that but it escapes me at the moment) and it appears to be actual sandstone being used. Still no sign of details on the main balconies.

I'm going to go check this out tomorrow and get some photos in and around downtown Dartmouth. I'd love to see how this is going... and is it the fascia trim you're talking about? lol

I don't think so. It's a much simpler name than that. But for whatever reason my brain is not working today.

If there is a model suite open yet it would be great to get some views of the interior and maybe the view of halifax from the rooftop.

thanks

It would be a fairly narrow view, considering it's contending with Queen Square, the school board building, the Super 8 motel and whatever becomes of Kings Wharf. But yeah, I guess you would get some sort of view from the upper floors.

From an article in the Chronicle Herald today;

THE MAKERS OF POPULAR croissants sold at the Dartmouth Farmers Market are ready to set up shop. Zane Kelsall and Tara MacDonald have signed a deal to open Two If By Sea, a specialty coffee and croissants shop, in the new Founder’s Corner condominium project. A grand opening with pastries and rich, buttery croissants is set for September. Kelsall will be leaving his duties as manager and master barista at Halifax’s Steve-o-Rino’s Cappuccino to pursue the venture. MacDonald, a newcomer to the city, will continue to bake the croissants that she sold at the market.

Oh my ! The best croissants I've had. This is very good news. A bakery in the DDT would be great. JET

Now all the neighbourhood needs is a grocery store.

Awesome news! It's about time downtown Dartmouth had a decent coffee shop.

There is still suppose to be a small market in the building if I'm not mistaken. However this might have taken its place.

As somebody who works two blocks away, I couldn't agree more.
Queen of Cups used to be decent, but they're gone.

Is the second one still open, the one on Portland? Queen of Cups Too I think it's called.

I worked on Dundas st until recently and liked that place.

Have you been to "Our Thyme Cafe" 98 Portland, not much to look at from the outside, but I hear that it's a nice place, and a good cause.
Most of the "shingles" are on the outside of the Lodge (Founder's Corner) and look great. Hopefully they will get the fencing down soon, and do the sidewalks.
Anyone been to the market in the old Value Village, Saturdays? JET

I've been to Our Thyme, but every thyme I go in there it's too unbearably hot to even think about relaxing with a cup of coffee. Foods good though.

the building that our thyme is in really should have had larger windows, for a ground floor coffee shop. JET

Our Thyme is fine on the inside...but the outside really, really doesn't lend itself to the idea of an open, inviting coffee shop. Not the fault of the owners of course but I hope they look at more windows or dressing up the exterior somehow at some point.
