Love seeing the boys in red capture gold again. Enjoy it now because come February, we might not even see a medal in South Korea. No one knows what to expect.

I wasn't aware of this narrative until this tournament, but Sweden's 44 game winning streak in the round robin may be the greatest statistical anomaly I've ever seen. Yet in those 11 years or so, they've only capture the gold once.

Year in and year out they beat the contending teams in the group stage yet fall to them in the knockouts.

KC Chiefs just lost their 6th consecutive home playoff game. And Oilers keep loading up on #1 overall picks and keep losing for some reason. These are somewhat similar statistical aberrations.

Riders draft pick puts huge hit on Cam Newton in Saints playoff win
3Down Staff 3downnation January 8, 2018

David Onyemata delivered a jarring shot on Cam Newton in the Saints NFL Wild Card playoff win on Sunday.

It was only after Onyemata came to Canada and enrolled at the University of Manitoba did he begin playing football. He won the J.P. Metras Trophy in 2015 as USports football’s top down lineman and garnered an invite to the 2016 East-West Shrine Game, a U.S. college showcase event in Florida held each January that really elevated his stock. An impressive pro day held at the Bisons facility sent Onyemata up draft boards.

The Riders drafted Onyemata in the fourth round, 35th overall in the 2016 CFL draft. The Manitoba product was selected by New Orleans that same year in the fourth round, 120th overall. Since then he’s played in 32 games making 56 tackles and two sacks for the Saints.

Onyemata has made an impact with New Orleans just ask Newton how that feels.

Raonic lost in the first round of the Australian Open. He was barely running for points and clearly he is not 100%.

Shapovalov advanced to the 2nd round. He will play Tsongo tonight.

2018 Scotties Tourmanent of Hearts

It's Manitoba vs. Manitoba in the final. Yes for the new wildcard format! Will this see another highlight to add to Jennifer Jones resume (tying the record for most lifetime Scotties championships)? Or will it be the start of the passing of the torch to a new Manitoba curling dynasty (Kerri Einarson)? Either way Manitoba wins!

It's not exactly a new phenomena though. Team Canada would sometimes result in a completely provincial final, though this year, the addition of the WC team and Homen being at the Olympics actually resulted in 3 MB teams, which all did well (though 1 was skipped by a Saskie :p ).

Another great Super Bowl in the books. What a great game!!

1,151 yards of total offence and only 1 punt the whole game.
And again it came down to the wire.

National Lacrosse League

Went to a Denver Saskatchewan game this weekend. Was my first time seeing a NLL game. Man, what a fun time! I really enjoyed how the game flows. It was previously unbelievable to me that Saskatoon and Denver could be in the same tier in any sport given their respective sizes, so that was fun to see. More of a surprise was to see that of the around 40 players across the two teams, only 2 were from the US (both from NY state). The rest were all from Canada and of those, all were from Ontario and BC except 2 from Alberta. Who knew how dominant Canadians are in lacrosse! I looked up the league and it's from Pennsylvania. Wonder why no one in Canada founded a lacrosse league first, given that it's a national sport.

Jennifer Jones wins her 6th Women's Canadian curling championship and will represent Canada at the World Curling Championship this year. Good Luck on capturing your second world title, to go with your Olympic Gold Medal Team Jones/Team Canada,

Yea it's too bad Michelle Englot and her Manitoba girls failed to make the playoff round this year. You had a great career Michelle!

You must have been particularly shocked then to find out that the New England Black Wolves of the very same Lacrosse league play out of a town of 20,000 people (albeit in a 12,000 seat arena at one of the largest Casinos in the USA) half way between Hartford, Connecticut and Providence, Rhode Island.

The WC did really well and had some pretty amazing shots. Jones is always a worthy Canadian representative though.

Disappointing to see Brady choke like that, but you have to give credit to Nick Foles and the Eagles credit- they played a solid game.

Now that the 2017-2018 football season is over, what are the the rest of SSP's Canadian gridiron fans expecting this off season? I think with this loss there's no question that Brady's going to return next season. But there are a lot of other questions on that team/roster right now. Hopefully Gronk gets healthy and they beef up their defensive play to give it another run when football returns next September.

I was not aware that the TTC had such a significant contingent of die-hard long-suffering Philadelphia Eagles fans among its clientele.

But yes it was a good game.

Eagles are pretty popular among the 20-30 crowd. People that were kids during the McNabb/Terrell Owens years.

I suspect that's sarcasm on Brady's choke.
Amazing that a QB can put up 505 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs and still lose.

It's going to be an interesting off-season.
I'm a Steelers fan, so hopefully they'll get their crap together and take advantage of the good offence they have with some actual defense for a change. Plus I'm hoping for the Bills and Cowboys both to miss the playoffs.

The Patriots are going to lose some players, and maybe more importantly - they'll lose some of their coaching staff. This might finally start to be the decline in the Patriots - although probably still a slow decline. I've got friends, family and my company's offices in Halifax and St. John's who are Patriots fans (big fanbase there) and they've had it very good for a long time. Maybe I don't have to put up with the gloating much longer.

Yea, Toronto/Southern Ontario has their fanbases split up among a few teams -
it's not just Bills fans here. There are a ton of Pats, Steelers, Cowboys, Packers, Eagles, 49ers and Lions fans as well.

A friend/co-worker who's been a huge Eagles fan since the Randall Cunningham days finally had something to cheer about last night. Him and his buddies were out celebrating.
