That is actually not an elevator shaft on the exterior of the Hyatt Regency. All their elevators face the 17 story atrium lobby.

Fun fact: The elevators in the Towering Inferno are the Hyatt Regency's elevators and the Hyatt's lobby was used as the Glass Tower's lobby.
