A car can generally carry away a lot more stuff than a single pedestrian can carry.

Or at least heavier/bulkier things. Whether or not people taking cars actually do spend more would be interesting to find out I suppose.

There is a website showing interior designs and apartment layouts at this link - http://rentsouthport.ca/Floorplans.php

Apartments on the slanted side of the building have some interesting, non-rectangular layouts.

This is true.

I would expect that pedestrian trips are greater in number. Each trip comes with another opportunity for impulse buys. I'd also expect that the buildings with less parking also have more... economical (tiny!)... footprints meaning less ability to hoard Costco-sized bulk purchases.

Thanks for the updates Hali87. Hopefully Halifax will have a fair winter that will allow for some progress on the big downtown projects.

Yes, thanks for this pictures. I'm interested to see the container ship type cladding go up on this one. It's still hard to tell at this point what it's going to end up looking like. I hope it ends up with some character.

Yeah, I'm hoping it looks as good as the renderings. I quite like the concept.

I like the 'container look' effect, but if the colours were more randomly 'stacked', the effect would be more interesting

Thanks for all the pics everyone. I like this one - it's nice to see something so different. It has an attractive 1960s vibe...kind of Scandinavian too.

It is great to see such a unique building in Halifax. This one will attract a lot of second looks from tourists and Haligonians.
