New trains look fantastic! One element I really like is the front end light. I think in the future the lighting on the front end of trains - and motor vehicles for that matter - will more and more be a single plain of LED's that will contour with the body. Their will no longer be the look of 'popped in' headlights. I can even see, especially on cars, a durable tinted acrylic type material that in the daytime looks like the grille or body of the vehicle, but in darkness glows bright with LED's.

Anyways, great trains Montreal. Bombardier really should be a national treasure for you Canadians. They consistently produce some of the most stylish rail rolling stock on the planet. Probably the premier company now for top shelf industrial design in transport vehicles.

So does this ventilation system differ from the ones on the other trains? I remember being in Montreal over the summer, and every time a train would begin to move, the ventilation system seemed to be kicked in by the rush of air around the train. It was really loud.

The stock looks nice.

Is it just me, or do those trains look REALLY narrow?

Yup they are a little narrow compared to the usual steel subway. However the station platforms and trains are much longer then what a typical TTC or MTA station would look like.

I dunno if I agree

on one hand sure, its a matter of practicality that until this point vehicles often have two round, bulb headlights. But I've always felt that for some not surprising reason, the fronts of vehicles are often symmetrical and sort of resemble faces. With lights being the eyes, the grill the mouth, etc. And the older Peterbilt/Kenworth American semi trucks with curvy exhaust pipes kind of look bovine even. So, perhaps there will always be reason to go with twin headlamps.

The color of the trains is still not decided. There will be a survey soon on the STM's Facebook page to decide which color the the trains will be. So the public will decide the color of the trains.

Based on the configuration of the seats, the trains are as wide as a typical light rail vehicle or a bus, so they are definitely much narrower than typical subway car.

Option number 1 has received at least 50% of the total number of votes. The two other option, about 25 % each.

I like the simpler two tone livery of Option 2 the best.

I voted for option 2. I really love the chevrons on top, but I'm happy with option 1.

/\ Which is good during rush hour.

So I am assuming these are going to be rubber tired as well, correct? There is no plan to retrofit the entire system or anything stupid is there?
