This is a nice infill project for Walnut St and Old City/Society Hill. Not tall or imposing, but still a nice infill project!!!

I see. That explains it.

Why does this building have such an atypical structural style? What does it allow that a standard reinforced-concrete tower doesn't?

Maybe because it appears that south side bears most of the weight allowing the end facing Independence Hall to have thinner columns thus more window area facing the Mall .

The core is asymmetrical to the overall building footprint, especially once it extends above the fifth floor/podium. That combined with the need to reduce the number of columns throughout the floor plan, especially on the north end, creates numerous structural challenges.

Is it me or does this one look like it's not moving at all over the last month or so?

They said this one would crawl, given the construction methods involved (resulting from the design).

it is indeed crawling. Its a relatively small site so I thought it would rise a lot faster. BUt obviously the design prohibits that.

I am curious what kind of measures if any they would need to take digging with all the historic buildings in the area.

The automated parking control subcontractor was removed from the project. The result may seem small but this changes numerous things from foundation walls to structural core to thickness of the slab. These items all vary from each different parking control system this is why this project has come to basically a stand still.

That's too bad. How long will it take to resolve and get moving again?

Well that tears it. I am asking for my deposit back.
