Wow reading a lot of ignorant remarks here

First off funding is not paid by the Catholic Church, all schools (French/English/Public Catholic) have an open and equal funding formula set by the province, primarily driven by a per student funding allocation (and other factors as well). Catholic schools offer the same access to programs, and don't kick out kids who are pregnant or anything like that.
Student who attend catholic schools are not required to be catholic (nor even Christian), although they are to follow the Schools catholic curriculum requirements. I'm an atheist and my kids are not baptized yet went to Catholic Schools all their life
There is internal competition amongst the 4 boards, more students = more $$ . That's why some schools are coming out with innovative (or sometimes innovative) programs - they want the funding... as simple as that. Some Catholic High Schools even have Muslim pray rooms.
