ILNY, great shots. I like the pattern of black and blue on these towers.

Those pics also reminded me of my dream last night. I was in NYC and walked across the Manhattan Bridge, from Manhattan to the other side. The other end was really ghetto, so I ended up walking straight back to Manhattan. Odd dream but thanks for reminding me! haha

Interesting design...

See, this is what I like to see...

...Concerns of sheer blue-glass curtain wall facades being assuaged with designs like this.

I also like "slabby" towers, too.

This, this, this. I've been so tired of seeing textureless blue-glass boxes. You honestly don't have to do a whole lot to make them interesting, and this is proof of that. This is an cleanly beautiful complex that NYC should be proud of.

^To be fair the 3rd tower of this trio (hidden in several photos) is a plain blue glass box. (It is a more luxury building, and so it does not have any of the black PTAC's- so they made it a plain blue glass bldg).

These are a pretty sleek addition to the LIC skyline.

If Long Island's Nassau/Suffolk County area had ths type of thing going, I would be seeing concentrations of towers of similar magnitude to these in a few areas, such the Uniondale/Coliseam-downtown Hempstead region and the NY-110 corridor.

And that's off the top of my head.

Even the Islandia business park near MacArthur Airport could've seen something.

I'd like to see that too. For me, more around the Great Neck area.

We may see more towers in the future for the East NY area near JFK, which is close to the S. Nassau county line. That neighborhood is seeing a boom right now.

I think the prospect for the tower in the park concept for various Nassau County small towns could work. The ones near major highways and rail lines.

Similar to what you see at the North Shore Country Club minus the golf course.

Quick answer then back to the topic:

Your third statement is a nice idea. MOF, the Belmont Park "repurposing" with the new Islanders arena calls for a vertical hotel whose height IIRC is to be ascertained.

I'm stil rooting for the 110 corridor idea......One can dream.

Astoria Cove and the Greenpoint waterfront will continue to see large scale projects. Phase I of the Domino redevelopment is in full swing with one of the components or sites (A,B,C,D) almost complete. The later towers will be much larger, redefining the area.

Ultimately a lot of these large-scale tower projects will fuse the skyline of LIC into it, creating a much broader aesthetic impact. Midtown East is slowly spewing over the East River.

Plop this skyline node into a random location somewhere in the Midwest, and you have a nice medium sized city skyline.

Yeah it's pretty incredible how the LIC skyline developed in such a short period of time … and there's more to come. Curious if we'll start to see more commercial and lodging development given the influx of residents.

Yeah its happening. For example, the largest nyc hotel outside of Manhattan is slated for LIC. Named Toyoko Inn. Will have 1,200+ hotel units. There's a lot of mini hotels in the range of 100-200 units rising on smaller parcels.

The Tokoyo Inn is slated to rise on Jackson Avenue. There's about 4000-5000 units (hotel) in the pipeline for LIC. 10,000-12,000 residential units of all functionality to come online by 2019 to 2021 pending pipeline projects starting this year (2018).
