The biggest deals happen in the off-season anyway. I'm glad we didn't do something like give up a high pick for Arnott or the like.

Wow, not a fan of the Hodgson deal right now.

Hope time proves me wrong, but this looks like one of those deals you look back on years down the road and ask what they were thinking.

The Sabres surprisingly making a couple of good deals. Hodgson has great potential. Also a great job getting a 1st rounder for Gaustad and a 4th-rounder.

I don't like the Hodgson trade, but I haven't seen enough of Kassian's play to know how he'll do in the Canucks system. From what I've heard, his upside is that he's big, can fight, and can score if he feels like it. :/

Oduya traded to Blackhawks for a 2nd and 3rd round draft pick in 2013. Jets pickup (wait for it...) Clitsome off waivers from Blue Jackets.

My prediction: Boston/Vancouver cup final again this year.

That is all.

Detroit has a chance as well.

NY Rangers/St. Louis

We'll finally see playoff Halak in action and no way Boston will be able to beat Lundqvist 4 times. They got lucky last year, it won't happen again.

Oh well... Kostitsyn traded to Nashville for a second round pick. We also get back the 5th round pick from the Hal Gill trade.

We now have 4 second rounders (I think) in the next 2 years. Hopefully our great scouts will be able to make the right picks.

Sad to see AK go through, he'll probably end up scoring 30-35 goals with Nashville.

I presume Mike Gillis is a savvier GM than Jack Gordon was (who orchestrated the worst trade in NHL history), but because I know nothing about the 2 Sabre players and know what a great young player Hodgson is, this trade looks terrible to me. I just hope Mike and his team know what they're doing because I sure liked Hodgson in a Canuck uniform.

Kassian is good, but, the Hodgson trade is rather stunning and I just can't think of "WHY!?".

Solid home-stand, Calgary.

STL had 7 road pp goals all year coming in. Now they have 9.

I think that basically kills the rest of our false hope!

We'll see. Streaks can do amazing things, but they've been playing terribly for the past ten games or so.

If a mediocre team plus a great goalie is a pretty good team, then fine.

There was a point where you guys believed you were an elite team and deserved to be considered contenders.... So I guess a down grade to a pretty good team is a welcome grasp of reality that was not present a few years ago.

What confused me at the time is that, for years we had been good defensively (not just Kipper), then one year we were top 5 or 6 in offense (what was it, 2006-07?), but terrible defensively, then we went back to the old ways. Now we're middle of the pack in just about everything except goaltending.

Wow, St. Louis. They are the best team in the NHL that nobody is talking about.

If I heard that TSN guy correctly, they have not lost a game if they score 3 or more goals.

Sloppy sloppy game by the Jets, but I'll give credit where its due: good job to the Oilers.

They are actually an exciting team to watch, I havnt really kept tabs on them for a long time as most of my favourite teams during the Jets absence were all in the Eastern Conference

Good job guys hope you enjoyed watching a fairly quiet Winnipeg crowd, Oilers sure are going to be a team to watching in a few years.
