BUCKHEAD | Piedmont Atlanta Tower | 1968 Peachtree Rd NW | 16 Stories

From betterpiedmont.org:

We have embarked on a 10-year expansion, starting with a new, 16-floor tower that will increase our capacity to care for our patients. This new tower will house up to
408 beds and 13 new operating rooms, for a 22% increase in Piedmont Atlanta’s capacity to care for patients and the community. The growth begins with the
establishment of the Marcus Heart and Vascular Center through the generosity of philanthropist Bernie Marcus and The Marcus Foundation. This state-of-the-art facility
speaks to Piedmont’s reputation as a premier destination center for cardiovascular care and will enable the critical expansion of other key healthcare services.

Also, some photos I've taken of the work thus far:

Nice to see medical buildings that don't look like concrete bunkers. This one is deluxe!

Agreed! I think that patio along Peachtree Road will be a great amenity for both the local community as well.

This tower is being built on a civil war site. I found this photo on their "building updates" page. Looks like they'll be reassembling the monument when they finish the building.

Here's their building update page: http://betterpiedmont.org/building-updates/

The storm drain retention hole they're digging is pretty impressive. I was wondering why they were digging so deep. I thought it was underground parking at first.

eh, yeah I suppose you're right. It's in that weird area between Buckhead and Midtown. I can't think of that neighborhood name right now. Unfortunately, I cant change the title of the posting.

Going vertical.

Technically this is Buckhead per the state legislature but I totally get what you are saying.

The area is called Brookwood. Not sure where Brookwood stops, but technically are not in Buckhead until you pass Lindberg Drive. But, yeah. Everyone wants to say they live in "Buckhead". lol

Pretty much Buckhead, but I always called it Brookwood. I lived there for around two years. There's a lot to like, but overall, Brookwood is one of the ugliest stretches of Peachtree in the city.

I call it Brookwood too and I think that's what it should be called. But the general assembly decided to deem 1/5 of the city Buckhead which I think has only helped to divide the city over the years.

Buckhead is just an area of the city. I think it was called that long before the legislature got involved.

I'm sure it has but what we were discussing is the specific area of the city that is defined as "Buckhead". Some long-time Atlantans have said that what is now known as Buckhead Village was historically the extent of Buckhead. And as we've just mentioned above, many people still think of location of Piedmont Hospital as Brookwood and not Buckhead.

I don't believe so. There are much larger high rises going up in midtown right now.
