^ No, I think it's a good idea. Looks like it will face the lake side of the block, so it won't form a long wall against the highway like the old Canal Palace did. A little breathing room along Claiborne is important, I think, so the area under the highway isn't such a dark tunnel.

I think retail space along Derbigny is questionable, though... leasing here might be tricky, the Canal Crossing project south of Canal doesn't even include any retail at all.

I think that Canal apartment complex will be an overall improvement to that area. However the design looks pretty bland and cheap, much like that new hotel on North Rampart.

I think its perfect for that area... some people can never be pleased...and whatever the owners of the remainder of the block do will surely be just as nice... Some company out of Manhattan owns the remainder of the block and im sure something substantial is planned as a result of this project

Looks like the Bienville Townhouse project switched to a more modern look:

WWII Hotel

WOW! That Higgins Hotel actually looks really fantastic! Art Deco and nods to historic design without looking cheesy and somehow ties in some modern touches and pulls it off! Also great to see something built on that lot on the other side, is that parking garage apart of the building on the corner being reno'd? Maybe something will be built on Lee Circle side soon too and fill in the rest. Either way I'm liking how the WD lots are disappearing awfully quick now!

On camp street right off lee circle across from World War 2 Museum. Looks like all the remaining land and the Ives Building is part of large redevelopment. So Something larger is planned for the remainder of the block that actually fronts lee circle but will tie into this garage planned.

The WWII hotel looks very attractive as rendered. Let's hope it doesn't get value engineered like so many other projects have been. Like the Bienville Townhouses - I'm not one to think everything should be faux-historic or cookie-cutter design, but depending on the materials that end up being pretty ugly in the context of the rest of the neighborhood.

It's nice to see something being done in that lot where the Ives garage is proposed. I can't quite tell, but are those apartments on one side? If so, nice to not have another stand-alone garage.

Yes apartments line the outside of the garage and a large green roof.

Also I dont think we need to worry about DDAy value engineering .. All their projects have been first class so far.

A couple of very nice projects. Liking all the infill. It's still a little weird to see the D&B project coming up in a lot that I parked in for so many years. Weird but good.
