So is this the same project as the Algiers Crossing or something new? If its the same project it's a shame how they've changed up the design from the original

I think something new. Algiers Crossing was the old mardi gras world site.

I know a thing about permits, only for a project to do some light construction and fail. I'll believe it when I walk through the front doors personally, take an elevator to my hotel room, and flop on the bed. ;-)

Another Hyatt property. Great! I wonder what it will be called? The hotels under the Unbound collection have unique names.

For anyone that drives in this area, they know how desperately needed this project is. This will be great for not only transit riders but also fixing the cluster that is that intersection right now.. driving is so confusing through there

New Orleans RTA Cemeteries Transfer Center construction road closures, detours

The RTA plans to complete the project by Thanksgiving Weekend

Tom Benson to build Dixie Beer brewery in New Orleans

Tom Benson to build Dixie Beer brewery in New Orleans

Saints-Pelicans owner Tom Benson is bringing Dixie Beer back to New Orleans with plans to build a local brewery after buying the 110-year-old iconic brand.

Tom and his wife Gayle Benson said Wednesday (July 26) that they purchased a majority of Dixie Brewing Co. LLC for an undisclosed price. Longtime owners Joseph and Kendra Bruno will keep a minority interest. As part of the agreement, a brewery will be built in Orleans Parish within the next two years, possibly in New Orleans East.

"Here's something that represents New Orleans for me," Tom Benson said Wednesday. "I think this is a good thing for New Orleans. This is why I wanted to get involved. I believe we need a little stimulus here in our city. We need something that's made here."

Dixie Brewery

I am speculating they end up selecting the old Brown's Dairy site in Central City.

^ Jeez, I didn't even realize the dairy had closed. Hopefully the city can take back the vacated block of Thalia St. I used to live on Thalia so that used to drive me nuts when I was biking... But yeah, hopefully someone comes forward with a good idea for re-use!

It's unlikely that anyone can replace the 185 lost dairy jobs, though, even the largest (craft) breweries don't employ that many people.

Excited to see Dixie back! Good to see new jobs/production coming to town, I think browns Dairy would be a good spot!

Noticed today the new 16 story Residence Inn lot on st charles is now closed and looks like they're tearing it up. Excited for that to fill in along an already dense street

If i remember corectly browns dairy moved all the jobs to another local plant.but yeah that place would make for a great brewery but i think its going to become a residential development
