That building in 78 looks lonely

Sorry Atlanta, this city is Georgia's premier city in my book.

Wow, and I thought New Orleans was sexy. I never realized Savannah had row houses. Theres just so much history there, I want to get lost in it. I dont think theres much decay if any in Savannah. It looks like everything is so meticulously restored. If I recall, Savannah was one of the earliest cities in America to start revitalizing/restoring their historic core.

Wow. I truly did not picture Savannah looking like that when I entered the thread... It looks incredibly beautiful. You definitely did Savannah justice.

Out of curiosity, what did you imagine Savannah looking like? In the South at least, Savannah is pretty iconic, along with places like Charleston, Memphis, Richmond, and New Orleans. Everyone pretty much has at least a vague idea of what they're like even if they've never been there.

I had heard it was similar to New Orleans architecturally in some ways, but I never imagined that it would be as picturesque as it is. It's not just the architecture... it's the combination of that, the tree-lined residential neighborhoods and the cobblestone that makes it exceptionally beautiful, which is not what I was expecting. As for why I wasn't expecting that, IDK.

After one trip, I decided that Savannah was the one place in the South I think I could live. Such a great city.

Nice tour.

This city needs more recognition. Georgia has long only concentrated on Atlanta as the only grand city it has,but Savannah can also be up there as well.

Savannah is the perfect combination of built environment and natural environment, which is what really takes it over the top. Places like New Orleans and Charleston have the perfect built environment, but when those perfect urban areas were being built, no thought was given to leaving much room for trees and greenery.

Savannah, meanwhile, left room for green space and trees, which are essential for shade and cooling in such a hot climate. I've heard that Savannah's grid pattern, which left all that room for greenery, is perhaps the most intelligent grid pattern in the country, if not the world. The smarts that went into planning Savannah are what make it so special.
