The Sazerac House, located at the corner of Canal Street and Magazine Street in downtown New Orleans, was originally constructed in the mid-1800s. The property is comprised of two adjoined buildings which have sat vacant for more than 30 years. Each building contains rich architectural details throughout including wood floors, high ceilings, over-sized windows, and ornate support columns. As many of the original design elements as possible will be kept as the buildings undergo the renovation.
Utilizing historic tax credits, the new space will house retail space, three floors of exhibit museum, a micro-distillery, rum experience, and bitters bottling area. The fourth floor will be an event venue and the fifth level will house the Sazerac corporate offices.
Visitors will be able to learn about the spirited history of the iconic Sazerac cocktail, the official cocktail of New Orleans, as well as many other original New Orleans brands, while exploring the unique role New Orleans has played in the bourbon and rum industries as well as American cocktail culture.
