Any news on the retail space in the base? This thing is near completion, I imagine they could have a tenant lined up by now.

A shot from VZ's new photo-thread showing where this fits in the skyline:

They still have multiple signs up seeking retail tenants as of today. It's possible they have filled some but not all the space I guess.

Thanks. I suspect they'll be able to fill the spaces in time. Unlike the retail space for the Murano, this building has a lot of foot traffic around the base. As long as the rents aren't too unreasonable they should be able to find tenants.

Are you saying the foot traffic around the Murano is not all that remarkable?

There's no good reason on earth why the Murano space should have been vacant for as long as it has been. Are they holding out for some ridiculous rental rate? What a waste of a good location, right next to Trader Joe's whoever owns that retail condo is nuts.

Especially now with the completion of 2400 Market and the possibility of 2 more residential highrises replacing the lowrises on the two blocks to the west.

The Murano's retail space just doesn't present itself well. It doesn't approach the street well and its easy to walk by without even noticing its there. Honestly the entire base of the building is bland and uninviting to me. Thats just the sense I get when I walk by it.

then the owners need to reduce the asking rent.

i don't get how sitting on empty space benefits the owners.

So they've laid the concrete for the sidewalks and Van Pelt street, but I didn't notice any square holes for trees...

I really hope they actually plant some trees like they've been showing in all the renders, but unless I missed something it doesnt look like they will.

Nice pics. So I checked the website:
Quote:
The first units at 2116 Chestnut will be available July 1st! All units will be available September 1st!
So this thing should be mostly done by July 1st, completely by September it sounds like.

Update from today. They've closed Chestnut street to lift up all the dirt for the green roof. The roof is looking great.

For this I was trying to get a glimpse of what the apartments look like on the inside. You get a much better view at night. They've been leaving the lights on in a couple for whatever reason.
