Well, it's only because the site is too small for underground parking. If the site had allowed for it, I'm sure they would have dug a little deeper to accomoadate all the luxury cars of the new owners of the real estate in the sky. So it is the site is small and the parking will be above ground and assisted by a car elevator. Like I said, looks like the plan is to have the crane on site by next month. And of course shortly after that we'll see the concrete flowing.

still a lot of debris in the pit on this one. Getting a crane in there for May could be a challenge.

And they for sure would need a much deeper hole for that.

No that's as deep as they are going to go. 4 floors below ground - 8 above.

But still a lot of debris from the previous building which was on the site, so I don't think the crane will be in there this month as had been promised by the developer. But it's a wait and see thing I guess. We'll find out before the end of the month.

^Not with our soil conditions. No caissons, no raft slabs, or both needed in most of Toronto. A 40 foot deep parkade and beefy column footings will more than suffice.

P.S. that hole looks only 3 storeys deep

From NRU, May 9, 2008

Trump tower update
Construction is underway on Toronto’s Trump tower at the corner of Bay and Adelaide streets. Excavation and drilling is nearly complete on the $500-million project that is planned to be a 60-storey hotel and tower with 118-luxury residences and 261-hotel guest rooms and suites. Cranes will be raised on the site during the weekend of May 31 and concrete is scheduled to be poured for the footings of the building shortly thereafter. The building is slated to be complete in 2010. (See NRU Toronto edition September 21, 2007.)

^So now it's 60 stories?

I've heard so many different numbers for floors in this building. The last I heard was 57.
