They took down the construction fence around the back of the hotel yesterday when I left for work. So I think it’s probably nearly done, finally.

I agree. I feel like they're going to have to shut down the street in front of the museum to put it in place. I'm very curious how they'll erect the ends of it since they're such large pieces that go over the street/campus

I’m curious how they will construct the rest of it since the Liberation Pavilion which is that last piece to be build of the campus has its groundbreaking on Thursday. Where’s the large crane going to be staged? Maybe it still fits in a spot between the pavilions ...

New Orleans flights to and from Montreal extended into summer due to high demand

https://www.nola.com/news/article_ef...c252389b5.html

Direct flights between Montreal and New Orleans don't exist yet, but apparently they are in high demand, so trips to and from the Canadian city are being extended into next year.

Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport announced on its Facebook page that Air Transat service to Montreal will continue into next summer "due to high demand."

Flights to Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport from Louis Armstrong do not begin until Nov. 3, but travelers can book them now.

Air Transat will fly the route twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays.
Linked to the airport's Facebook page is a website to view Air Transat rates and things to do in Montreal, such as ice hockey, F1 car racing and the city's annual Jazz Fest, according to airtransat.com.

Based in Montreal, Air Transat flies to 60 destinations in more than 25 countries in the Americas and Europe and offers domestic and feeder flights within Canada.

Watch: Times-Picayune clock tower finally comes down, but it didn't fall easily

https://www.nola.com/news/business/a...a2d0019bf.html

The Times-Picayune clock tower at 3800 Howard Ave., a landmark familiar to downtown-bound drivers on the Pontchartrain Expressway and those crossing the South Broad Street overpass for more than half a century, finally came down on Sunday night.

But it did not fall easily or on schedule.

The demolition team from Durr Heavy Construction had begun operations around 10 p.m. Friday, expecting to topple the tower — the last part of the old Times-Picayune building still standing — in just a couple of hours, or by sunrise on Saturday at the latest.

But in the end it took about 45 hours, working intermittently with huge concrete saws, and finally bringing in three excavators pulling wire cables tied to the upper reaches of the tower, to yank it down.

What’s old is new again at 353 Baronne in the CBD. The historic, 3-story building has been restored to its mid-1950’s state when it was home to King Dollar Store. To achieve the exterior restoration, our team removed stucco, repaired the underlying historic brick facade, and refurbished historic windows. The interior of the building was renovated for mixed-use, with gallery and office space on the ground floor, and residential units on the top two floors. #palmisanoprojects

Passed by this building in the East today and noticed a small sign for an architectural firm has been hung on the side now. FWIW, wasn't there reports of a renovation for this?

Hello everyone, what kind of effect do you guys think the new airport will have on our local economy when it comes to new office expansion or corporate relocation or even new manufacturing sites? The new terminal opens November 6th and already Canadian based Air Transat has expanded its service to year round service. What do you all think?
