I regret that I don't have more to show this time around since I know I have a tendency for making these enormous photothreads. I thought it best to combine my last two visits home to show a better picture of the City of Trees in the dead of winter and in the beauty of spring. It's not the most urban or gritty or noir (or, I guess in the eyes of this community, interesting) thread I've done. This'll be short, sweet, and to the point for a change.
Winter
I've traveled a bit through the States. I've seen New England in the fall, the Pacific Northwest on its best days, and everything California has to offer. I have yet to find a landscape more beautiful than the American River and its levees (and I hope you'll see why).
The happiest moments I've had in the last two years have been when I make my way through the airport to arrive at the one who greets all passengers to Sacramento. I don't think I smile as much any other time than when I'm walking out of Sac International.
Spring
Ten days of Spring Break aren't enough. Ten days in paradise isn't enough for anyone.
Springtime always meant one thing to me; the start of tennis season. My best memories are of those days, win or lose. I couldn't help myself from checking in on the old team.
Very nice. It's good to see Sacramento on here, seems in the past it's been the forgotten Cali city on skyscraperpage, maybe mirroring real life - which is too bad, because it seems like a great town!
I've visited it once. Creepy place (what else would you expect of an infamous, abandoned nuclear plant?). Technically, those cooling towers are taller than anything in Sacramento.
Some impressive work here. I love to see how far you have come since I first knew you. I think your starting to really tap into your true style. Keep up that golden warm kind of action.
Nice pics, my brother and his wife moved to Davis from Boston two years ago and I've been able to visit him three times now. While I have never flown into Sac Int'l, my parents do from Boston every time they visit and they love that airport. They say it's the best airport experience in the country.
This is the Approach from 50 from Folsom right? Or is this somewhere on 80?? I had seen similar views like this when I painted a house up in Cameron Park.

Yep, that's Folsom off Iron Point Road.
Great pics TDS. Giving me extra motivation to get my Canon out for some springtime shots around the city.
What are those cooling towers? Didn't think Cali had any coal or large tower-cooled gas fired plants..
From where I grew up in Jackson, California (45 minutes southeast of Sactown) it was interesting to watch the towers when they were in operation. During the winter when the Sacramento Valley became socked-in with fog, those towers would peep above the fog layer, chugging out twin columns of steam. Very reminiscent of a newly emerging volcano from an ice-choked sea. One of the perks of living above the fog-line! Rancho Seco was also a favorite spot for senior ditch day... not that I ever participated...

You'll be happy to know (or not) that we haven't had much of that 'socked-in' fog in the Valley, well at least here in Sacramento, for a few years now. Maybe it's due to climate change or urbanization, or both.
