Ottawa in Minecraft

The City of Ottawa Open Data initiative has released a Minecraft map of the city

Good news for skyscraper fans - it has building footprints for towers and large buildings, but just flat areas for pretty much everything else.

Unfortunately the starting point (world spawn point) is set quite far from downtown. Unless you want to wander around in a forest, you may want to teleport.

As this is a Creative map with Cheats turned on, you can teleport, using the /tp command.

To get to Parliament Hill, just type

/tp -2266 139 -2061

I would really like to see someone build LRT Stage 1 and 2 using powered rails and minecarts.

Wanna help build Ottawa in Minecraft? btecanada.net is building Ottawa to scale and other cities. Thought I'd share this with other architectural enthusiast, it's a good opportunity to also build brand new towers

Yes exactly, the reddit link doesn't work from this forum, and points to an image that's way too large for here anyway.

Just a note that the city released a Minecraft map years ago. It doesn't have detail, but it does have the massing of the buildings based on city data.

Maintaining Ottawa in Minecraft is about to be exceptionally easy as the city grows. You just need to build a CharcWhite base model, clone it over and over again, and make subtle modifications for each new building that is built.

I have long known they have a fully colour blind design team using Minecraft to design their portfolio
