Speaking of Woodman, I got the "About Schmidt" DVD for my birthday and there's something on the special features called "The Woodman Tower". It's five short films of B-Roll involving the skyscraper. Alexander Payne wanted his editors to cut montages of the building so he could get some ideas for the opening sequence. It's pretty cool.
Another thing I noticed while watching the movie is that they must not have remodeled the interior of that building one iota since it opened in 1968.
And, for what it's worth, I think the Woodman sign makes the building better.
