Dallas - The Big D Strikes Back

Visited Dallas over Christmas 2014... weather was lousy and had to 'meet the parents' with the significant other... limited photo opportunities, but thought I'd share none-the-less. Enjoy.

I'll be visiting again later this year (Thanksgiving time...) and will need suggestions for some interesting neighborhoods to explore

Much love,

TNTD

Great shots, including some classic skyscrapers that I hadn't seen before.

That concert hall is beautiful. What's the name of it?

The DSO performs at the Meyerson Symphony Center in the Arts District so I would assume it is in that building.

Nice shots. Was the Bank of America Plaza really lit with different colors? I didn't know they did that.

I f you are referring to the building that had the different yelllow and green lighting, that was the Hunt tower. Also the Bank of America building can change to different colors now other than the green of the past. That is a recent upgrade.

Yeah, I knew they had done an upgrade to LEDs, I just didn't realize they were actually using it regularly.

The first shot is like the Dallas version of that bridge over the LA river to Boyle heights that has had about 10 thousand movies filmed on it. If only the tallest tower was a bit more centered in the skyline and not off to the side like that... Some very nice old skyscrapers from the 20's and 30's.

^^^^ Have we ever really had a Dallas inner core neighborhoods thread here or Austin? IF any Texas forumers have links to them it would be appreciated.

Neighborhoods will be a big focus of my next tour... but that is likely to be the week of Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the comments, discussion and views, everyone.

Yep... I had to look it up when I was there...

http://www.jfk.org/go/about/history-...memorial-plaza

I was shocked to find it was designed by the post-modernism skyscraper king, Phillip Johnson.

all I could say was, "wow...."
