For editors: all structures in the database are now available for editing, though new structures can't yet be created.

Please note the following problem: since the crash of the database, the Paris skyscrapers are now spread among several different city diagrams. When someone types "Paris", they only get the skyscrapers in the 20 arrondissements of Central Paris, i.e. they do not get the skyscrapers in La Défense and other parts of the Paris urban area as was the case before the database crash. This problem has been pointed out to the admins already (here + private messages), we were told it would be fixed when all the database is recovered, but I see it's still not fixed.

Basically, all the cities with the suffix IDF should be linked with each other, so that when you type "Paris" you get this diagram: http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?stateID=917

This is what existed before the database crash. Can an admin look into that? Thanks.

To start with I am concentrating on getting the drawings back, though I am also fixing city data as I can.

450 of the 1800 lost drawings have now been restored.

That's good news.

Thanks for the update.

Do you expect to be able to restore the remainder of the lost drawings?

Is there anyone else that can fix it then? The information that is offered now regarding Paris is misleading. It would be better not to have a Paris diagram online at all, until it's fixed.

This is the Paris diagram that people get when they type Paris: http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?cityID=866

And this is the real Paris diagram with all the towers: http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?stateID=917

Can't be more misleading than that.

Wow, things are moving fast

I'm sure this was brought up before but, will you be eventually creating a "building store" for the lost buildings? I have quite a few by the looks of things so I may never get around to it but, most still have a link provided to the information. (the one in the edit bar)

I realize a lot have been restored already

700 drawings restored now.

Sacamano, yes I am working on a system to restore buildings. Some of them are pointless to try to restore since the remaining data we have for them gives absolutlely no way of knowing what building it once was, and for these it is no great loss I think. But for many other buildings there is enough data that the buildings could be identified and they are worth restoring. I'll let you know when the system is ready.

In total, about 3600 building entries have gone missing from the database. It should be possible to restore a few hundred of these by figuring out what they are by the information about them which remains. For the rest, I think they are mainly short buildings and other miscellaneous structures. Not a devistating loss I think but unfortunate nonetheless. There are still about 800 drawings to restore (1000 have been already).
