North-End Photo Tour by Bedford_DJ

A construction photo tour I took today through the North-End from Younge at Agricola (5552 Kaye) to Citadel and back up to 5505 Falkland. All photos by me;

Hydrostone Market (my starting point):

Garden Stone Place a.k.a. 5552 Kaye Street:

Garden Stone Place's Neighbour:

McCully Worklofts (the sign was taken down and a small hole was dug recently):

Time and Space Building:

5784 Charles Street:

Under-going renovations:

Armoury Villa:

Armoury Square:

If only the Trillium were built:

The Commons Building:

The North-End:

From around Citadel Hill:

I'm hoping to get to the South-End later this week to get some construction shots down there.

Ok Thanks Keith. I knew its initials were T&S or S&T. I just took a guess at the whole name.

Thanks for keeping us updated with the pics. That Time and Space Media building is really cool.

Nice pics! It's been a while since we've had some nice big update threads.

Did anyone else notice that crap fake stone cladding they put on the new building at Agricola and North. They totally ruined the building with it

And also just down North heading towards the bridge there was a lot that was rebuilt and it looks absolutely horrible! They have two giant garage doors right on North. It looks like an evil suburban nightmare.

That fake stone cladding should be banned along with vinyl siding. The form of the building is good, but now I'm quite scared about Armoury Villa's cladding.

Most on here agree that the vinyl siding and fake stone cladding are not to our taste. Any property developers or other experts lurking on here who want to let us know why the stuff keeps getting used? just curious. And Beford DJ, thanks for your photos, your contributions are appreciated (although you just missed getting my place into one of your photos in this string!)

I'm going out on a wild guess here but do you live in the short building across from Armoury Villa?

I seemed to take half a million photos around it but not a single one of it somehow.

Its because its low cost, low maintenence.

Yes, it's cheap to install, cheap to buy, and lasts for a long time (relative to the cost). Instead of it being illegal, perhaps they city could come up with incentives for more 'tasteful' exterior finishings, such as reduced taxes, rebates, etc. that way there is an incentive to use costly and beautiful materials.
