LOL wow I legit thought it was real before being like "wait a minute - it's not that tall yet" - super convincing.

Great shots, Harry. It's surreal how a supertall literally creates a new cityscape all around it. We'll be discovering new vistas of this one for quite a while.

Goddamn, son!

I was out of town for the weekend, and reading SSP for the first time since Thursday. I was convinced for a split second that somehow Vista doubled in height in the last 72 hours!

Excellent Photoshop skills!

Seriously, the facade is so far behind on this project that it reminds me of construction technique in China or the Middle East. A project going up in Melbourne Australia (Aus108) depicts how a curtainwall can chase the structure.

For an architecture/construction newbie--is it bad to not put the curtain wall up sooner? What are some of the advantages?

At NEMA they put up yellow barriers to act in place of glass but here we don't have that. Is there any particular reason why? Will no glass reduce the quality of the concrete?

^At NEMA, those yellow barriers are actually metal studs/drywall. Very expensive means of a guardrail system and none of us here can quite figure out why they did that. My guess is that they were aware of the glass delay and wanted to proceed with interiors. But then again, those levels might be the parking garage..

And a simple answer to your question is the sooner glass goes up, the sooner they can finish the buildout, the sooner they can turnover the building to tennants; the sooner they start making money.

Concrete is pretty weather proof.

Waterview waiting.

Ha, thanks. It was a fairly easy edit al things considered. Because this photo is in (mostly) one point perspective, all I had to do was outline & copy some frustums, then scale them down to align with the actual photo and it pretty much took care of itself. Took maybe 10 minutes. Believe me, scaled to 100%, it's pretty janky.

The only tricky part was the east side of the west tower. I used the eastern wall of the east tower from another photo I took a few moments later, then distorted it to match the perspective so it gave depth to the to of the building.

Nice pics, Harry. I think this one shows that the glass is decidedly more green than the many blue glass buildings around it which is a good thing.
