So if some one is out of shape they can not be gay? I am not gay but I think that is a pretty immature and ignorant thing to say.

I don't know how that wasn't painfully obvious.

Mr X was making a joke though which is understood amongst the "gay" sort of like the whole toaster thing

its pretty common in the gay world though - its obsessed with youth and perfect bodies and once you're over 25 your out of it - a lot of that is changing - but it was established and was there basically because young gay guys coming out didn't think they could have a future - for so long there was no gay marriage or long term couples and no real older gay role models and people just thought getting old meant be old and alone - the guy at the sunsest beach who spoke it really well and it was very true

thats changing now - especially in Canada with Gay marriage etc and there are now role models and older gay people to look up to and admire and strive to be etc

i don't know what its like in the str8 world but the gay world can be and really is quite segmented and divided amongst groups and they often don't mix and I have heard some pretty gross remarks said from on gay person to another based on who they are or how they look

Its pretty sad that people who were called names and probably picked on for being gay do the same to each other

its just that way - bars have asian night, latino night, bear night, twink night, whatever and people just stick their group and their type - in a way coming out of the closet is just moving into a bigger one with more sections - kinda weird

It is very weird, spongeg.

It's like black-on-black violence though. Oppressed peoples tend take out that pain and frustration on one another because they feel powerless when it comes to their "real enemies". We may not be shooting each other in the streets but we are doing a lot of damage to ourselves and others. In our society, gay men may not generally have barriers to financial success but how do they fare when it comes to emotional/spiritual success? How do we heal the wounds of our youth when we become adults?

I like to look good and I like my own version of a handsome guy but in the end what is the point in trying to put down someone who doesn't live up to your standards? It's rather pointless really and we all suffer as a result, from the pressure to fit in, to be invulnerable, to be perfect. In the end, people who truly love themselves have extra love and compassion to share with others.

Reeeeeaallllly? So because you get to call yourself gay you also can't call yourself racist ?

Because someone would be screaming that at the rest of the population. Interesting!

I propose downtown bars have Japanese girl night.

The vast majority of bars on the vast majority of nights have no such "description". However, there are more vaguely defined nights at certain bars, but it's not like there's someone at the door barring people who don't fit the "type" advertised. A latino night for example would more be a party with latino-oriented music, which would naturally draw more latino people and other kinds of guys who are into latinos. There is no racial discrimination at hand other than anyone's right to be attracted to a certain variety of people.

In Toronto, I have been to a "men only" gay bar, as well as, on a lark, a leather bar called the Black Eagle, wherein one room i was barred entry to due to the fact that I wore no actual leather. On an odd sidenote, one of the guys there looked exactly like Axl Rose circa 1989. Not saying it was him but it goes to show that there are ALL kinds of gay guys.

there was a night hosted by a gay asian group at a local bar called "red lantern" and it was hosted by and aimed at gay asians - it caused some outcry in the community apparently

but in general gay people can say things to each other that i am sure non-gay people would view as wrong - its sort of like how blacks can use the n word with each other but anyone else doing it can't

a lot of white guys who only go out with asians get called "rice chasers" and the opposite is "potato chaser" thats asian guys who only go out with white guys

its bizzare and very high school but no harm is ever intended

drag queens can be horribley mean and get away with loads of stuff - but when they cross the line the audience certainly lets them know

i've heard of that bar sounded scary to me - numbers has some nights like that - you need leather to get upstairs and I have seen at pumpjack that I can't believe they allow in public - crazy

I see nothing wrong with that, so long as no one is being barred actual entry.

Str8 people also naturally frequent certain bars based upon their ethnic identities and preferences.
