Zoning Amendment has now been adopted.

Design is by Architects Alliance, should be good, but don't have any renderings at this time (just the elevation drawings available in the above report).

Most of the new proposals in Toronto seem to be in the 140 meter to 170 meter range. Not jawdropping by any measure, but good enough to create decent cityscapes with proper design.

Another tower is coming to the Yonge and College/Carlton as plans for 9-21 Grenville Street are slowly revealed. An early rendering of the base of the proposed 52 storey condo has been released.

^ Festival Tower looks great IMO. A simple but timeless modern design, minimal use of spandrels, and well executed wrap-around balconies...what's not to like about that? It's better looking than 90 % of the other glass box towers going up in the past 2-3 years.

Wrap around balconies are one of the worst things to happen to architecture since angel stone. Although they're okay if they're done right (like Casa)

^ i agree that the balconies are well hidden, and that it looks better than many of the glass boxes going up, but i still find it quite bland. whether that is because of it being 1 colour, or it just being a giant box.

I don't have an opinion on Balconies one way or the other. - Although I prefer straight up curtianwall glass, with no balconies to be honest.

My opinion: It's attractive, but rather typical/conservative aA glass box design. Still much better than 75% of competing projects...but hey, I'd love to see some more red brick aA--like the base of Market Wharf for example...

edit: This is a preliminary rendering, project as per decision yesterday is to be modified...stay tuned for final rendering.

You may not like the aesthetically from the exterior, but they're awesome to have. I have a wrap-around terrace, and it's great to be able to get straight views out in multiple directions.

I like the clean look, hopefully the glass is as slick as the renderings. I think the design is top notch, and the wrap around balconies? It breaks up the monotony... It is a nice, simplistic, post modern look.
