I'm thunderstruck with all the development that's occurred since I left there in May of 1993. I used to live, once, on 15th & La Salle, and to think of all the development in that area, what a game changer!

Garden Communities Tower -- 240 Park Ave -- 17 Stories, 188' -- 2/22/19

Another quarter-block of surface parking bites the dust, first high-rise to break ground in Minneapolis in 2019.

Given all the development that's taken place since I left in 1993, there is an occasional temptation to return, but all I have to do is see a picture, above, with those cloudy skies and? No thanks!

Even here in Tucson, I can barely deal with one cloudy day, and with 2 cloudy days I'm down in the dumps! I can't help but recall those long stretches of cloudy days, day after day.

Thanks for the updates! I drive on 35W from the SW metro to Roseville every week, and really noticing all of the stuff happening north of the river. Going to be some increasingly nice views for those along the river (with buildings on both sides).

As I understand it (correct me if I am wrong), the three tallest buildings downtown are at the height limit due to MSP, but even if we didn't see something taller, would love to see something large come downtown to add something new. The two new 500' ones are exciting places to start!

Thank you!

That's incorrect. Airport height regulations do not limit the height of development downtown. It's all the market.

Ahh, gotcha. I heard years ago the 3 tallest downtown were that height because they were bumping up against an FAA number. Glad to hear that is not the case.

Either way, not holding my breath of getting something 800+ ft., especially if we are looking at a economic downturn (nationally, globally, whatever), but the more stuff over even 100 ft. that is built will make more development more palatable.

Wildcard...maybe St. Paul gets a 1,000 footer

It seems crazy to me that they're able to get any work done with all of the snow and ice in the way. Nevermind the cold, but having to remove it to keep the site clear and dry seems like it would be a PITA kind of task.

The city looks great, though. Minneapolis is one of the cities I've always thought Austin should take after.

Crane went up over the weekend. The three cranes in the background are for the two Thrivent projects.

Very nice. I've always liked Minneapolis. I couldn't take that weather though. It's full-on spring time in the south.
