Okay onwards we go - after all the old stuff it's time for something new...

This time we'll visit Tuborg Havn an old industrial habour turned upper class residential and commercial...

Much of the area is still under construction - but what's finished so far is very nice and well worth a visit if in the area..

Here we go...

That's it's for this time....

Unfortunatly the weather was pretty cloudy and hazy today so the photospree I had planned didn't really happen...

Instead me and a mate ( fellow member DLL_4ever ) desided to visit Bakken - the world's oldest amusement park
It's idylicly set in a senic old Royal hunting park in the Northern part of the city..

It's not the usual amusement park, it was from day one driven by beer and alcohol and still is - the rides are more or less just there to pass time and trill the ladys..

These days it's turned into a heaven for young people who due to toughned laws regarding youth and alcohol are finding entering clubs harder and harder, so instead they now come here to drink and have fun...

( in case any yanks out there are wondering there's no age limit to drinking here, but clubs does normally require one to be 18 to enter )

Here we go..

DLL representing!

Time for an update....

I was going out to shop for a few things I needed for my vacation next week, but I ended up taken more pics than I did shopping - oh well, atleast the time isn't completely wasted

I've devided it up in a few parts to ease my job of posting the pics and make it easier to get an overview..

Part 1 will follow the narrow Studiestræde street down by the Church of Our Lady and onwards to Kultorvet Square

These streets are very narrow and not really very friendly towards my camera, so don't expect the world...

Here we go... the old town..

And time for the bus home...

And that was all for this time...

WOW!! Scandinavian design is impeccable!

Why does Copenhagen work? How is it kept so clean? Why do the urban planners make such good choices? And why do developers build cool buildings there?

American cities are hundreds of years younger but they are already decaying and 80% of new construction is limited to a strip mall on the edge of town.

So how/why does Copenhagen work? I'm jealous and want to know.

And please show us the most dangerous neighborhood in Copenhagen. I'm curious as to what the slums look like there.

I would guess that the nature of the Danish government (all Scandinavian governments for that matter) has a lot to do with the huge emphasis on public space, design and planning restrictions. All of these governments have very large budgets at their disposal, as all of these countries are quite socialist.

also denmark is quite a small country and i suspect copenhagen has grown periodically over hundreds of years avoiding periods of population explosions so typcial in NA cities

Yep founded in 1167 by Bishop Absalon...

There was a huge boom between 1850-1950 with overcrowding and lots of cheap worker blocks as the result.. that was "fixed" in the late 60's and onwards by interducing the American suburban style with a lot of sprawl to follow ( and a decrease in inner city pop of around 300.000 people.. )

We pay a lot in taxes - that leaves the goverment with a lot of money to solve issues like crime and decay...

Dangerous hoods and slum is non-existing here...

The DK-2200 neighborhood "Nørrebro" ( "Nørrebronx" by the wangsters ) is the closest you come to what you are looking for..

Around 1-2 people are killed there each year ( pop 70.000 ) - and around 12 people in the metro city yearly ( this year so far only 3 murders btw with a pop of 1.8mil )

This is Nørrebro - it's actually a very nice place - many immigrants and lots of alternative culture and people... I drive trough it daily on my way to work..

( pics from last winter )

Norrebro is the poorest and most dangerous neighborhood in Copenhagen, and it still looks that nice!?

Glad you love it ( I love it too ) and if ever I should find myself in Ålborg I'll promise to take some pics - but not being in the army anymore chances of me going there is slim..
