You need to credit the photographer of those pictures of the model. If that's not possible then atleast post a link to the place you found it.

As for the renderings, the same goes for those.

I have seen plenty of rendering, if this is going to be done in '08 than it must be under construction by now, if not, well on its way.

These renderings have been around for years. I would love to see some construction shots if it is really underconstruction.

It's nearly halfway of completion right now.
It's a shame that one of the most spectacular towers ever constructed is almost completed and people on one of the larger Skyscraper forums don't have a clue about it.

Photo creds to some dude at SSC.

It is fantastic that it is actually being built, I love the design.

I had intended to go find this site while in Beijing, but so much of the city was under construction (particularly in that area) it was kind of overwhelming to think I could find it. Sad really because it's shaping up to be an amazing building.

plinko,
Actually it's really close to the Beijing WTC and SOHO - quite easy to find!

This has more to do with a building under construction, so here it goes.

Am just reading about this in the New Yorker and about what a structural engineering nightmare/miracle it is.

Time to start looking into Beijing flights this tower, the bird's nest, SWFC down in Shanghai, I gotta see the place again. I know on one hand it will be a thrill and a disappointment, for I got to see Shanghai when there was one, just one, tower, ~30 stories and that was a monster of a building at the time. Beijing had a few commie blocks. To see it now would be amazing, but the "old" China that I saw I hear is largely obliterated.

I forgot where it was, someone posted a Shanghai '85 or '86 skyline with those 1 or 2 mid-rises and then a similar recent shot. Mind blowing. And I am hardly an old fogey.

Waaay to the right.

My question is, how will they build the big floor where the two sides stop?
If there isn't any support from the underside, the entire thing will come crashing down.

Anyone know what that other one under construction near the center of the pic is? Reminds me of the WTC u/c.

None of that used to be there. ^^^

I guess they'll apply the construction techniques of bridges, won't they ?

I looked it up, (never under estimate the power of Emporis ), and it is the China World Trade Center Tower III. Maybe that's why there's a resemblance to the base of the twins. It'll be their new tallest at 1,083 feet tall and 80 floors.

Emporis has an embedded GoogleEarth aerial image of building sites. This is only visible to editors and the pay version however. I identified the building by using that feature to spot existing buildings in the picture that DUBAI2015 posted and in the aerial image from GoogleEarth. Note that short rectangular shaped curved brown and black building in DUBAI2015's picture, in the foreground. Also, once you find the site of that tower you asked about, you'll also see the foundation work for that other tower at the top of this thread. In GoogleEarth that one is about 5 inches to the northeast.

If you open your version of GoogleEarth and type in the building's address it doesn't find it. However, if you go to Beijing it'll zero in on the city with the little "Beijing, China" pinpoint. Near the center of the picture you'll notice a body of water and then right next to it there's a large square, (this is the Forbidden City). Now scroll to the right a few inches and you'll notice a pocket of highrise density there. You'll know you've found it because of the shadows casted by the skyscrapers. Zoom in on that area and you'll see the area shown in DUBAI2015's picture. Find that rectangular building I mentioned above, and then just north of it there's a large construction site. That's the tower you asked about.

Emporis' page on it with renderings.
