it's been about 18 months since John Saca was forced aside and almost two years since construction stopped. It will be interesting to know if they CalPERS/CIM are close to proposing something, since it will take another couple years to move through the planning process and start construction.

It's just really too bad the original design/project won't be used 'cause it was top notch all the way.

I only wish they can bring back the design at least for one tower.

CalPERS has lost $62.4 billion, or 26%, since July of last year, so I don't
think their even concerned about the site. Although I have read they are
going to be increase its commodities investments 16-fold to $7.2 billion
through 2010.

Probably after the end of the next building boom, it will be resumed, only to fail again

Saca

I see there is a huge FILCO supercenter going up on Fulton Avenue near his small store in the strip mall to the north! (this is where his cash is going now).

This construction job is the slowest on earth...he must be employing part timers.....they work like every other day.....

Note: to historians this is the old site of Tinys hamburgers and the bar which was next door...north of hurley avenue

Oh Tinys. I'll never forget my parents telling me they would take me out after my 8th grade graduation to wherever I wanted...Bibas, The Firehouse, anywhere. What did I chose? Tinys.

I've heard a little something from CalPERS, nothing to get excited about and it kinda
sounds like they are leaning towards an office development... but this could change.

This is what they said..
"We are actively speaking to potential tenants who are interested in the Site
and could become a primary user of space in a new office development.
CIM has started the process of evaluating construction costs and
determining the value of the existing improvements for a potential
development plan. CIM continues to believe that the area of Capitol Mall
is an excellent location that is well suited for a prominent development."

Just be glad your office doesn't overlook it everyday like mine! Luckily, I expect an answer from Salt Lake any day and I'll be overlooking the City Creek Project instead! Woo Hoo!

What going on everyone, long time no talk to.

I just got something interesting this morning at 3rd and Capitol Mall a hotel job is in the planning process. Owners are awaiting city approvals and schedules to be announced. I don’t have a image of the hotel but it is only going to be 9 stories / 300 rooms. That’s all I know but if this goes down I am going to be really depressed with all this waiting and that’s all we get. I would imagine that there is still room for a larger building to go up later but really only 9 stories. Thoughts?

I can't imagine the city approving a 9 story hotel at 3rd and Capitol Mall. Actually I'm almost sure that has no chance of approval.

Yeah, that's the weakest proposal I've seen in a long time for Sacramento. I know the economy's bad right now, but shit, that is one pathetic proposal.

With proposals like this, Sacramento will never be the great city that we all want and deserve... Very sad, hopefully a bigger idea will come forward.
