some positive numbers about the homicide rate in the North End from here: http://lovemelovemywinnipeg.blogspot...s-just-in.html

2012: 4 homicides (5 if you're including Elmwood) in the North End out of 29 total = ~15% of city homicides

2011: 15 homicides in the North End out of 40/41 total = ~38% of city homicides

Elmwood is definitely not the north end.

Someone should remind Kali that people don't like the north end because of the high rates other crimes (B&Es, car theft, vandalism and assaults).

Most people are well aware that random murders are rare almost everywhere.

I agree, but if a reduced homicide rate in the North End made even a few more citizens feel more comfortable about investing in the area, that's a positive and worthy of reporting. It has a ways to go, but any reduction in crime is good news.
