MNG Mango is opening soon too. Should be in 2011. That is what a buyer told me in Montreal. I think first one is at Metrotown.
cool - there is a Mango in the airport but useless to most unless going overseas - they also have a mens collection i wonder if they will bring it

a lot of stores carry Jack & Jones here, the bay has a large section for it - I've seen a growing number of people wearing the clothes around downtown too

Fendi, Prada, Versace, and more need to open up shop on Alberni or the Fairmont. Spill the beans whoever knows lol. Also it sucks that Chanel closed on W. Hastings but I guess it was inevitable. Maybe they'll open up on ALberini soon???

I wouldn't be surprised if Prada or Versace is the mystery tenant at Hotel Vancouver

As for Chanel, didn't they just consolidate in to Holt Renfrew?

Yep Chanel is Holt Renfrew now, but I hate that! I like to see a standalone store front. The holt store doesn't even have its own entrance.

So what tenants are leaving Hotel Vancouver? Snowflake is one, who else? St. John? I don't see any others but I may be missing something lol

Well, there are a bunch of stores in the basement, including a JTB Travel Agent.

But, I very much doubt any of them will be moving in favor of more high end stores.

I would say St. John is a good bet to be leaving, too.

Not high-end, but I'd love to see a Uniqlo in Vancouver. I think it'd do very well.

I like that list, I'd like to see places like Jack y Jones, Desigual, Wings + Horns, Polo Ralph Lauren and/or Rugby, Band of Outsiders, J.Crew, Michael Bastian, Tom Ford, some real denim boutiques.. and a retailer that actually sells good men's shoes (there are none!)

And Apple flagship (I love the Manhatten 5th Ave store, it would so work here). If we're talking dep't stores, Harrods, Saks or Daimaru would be nice.

Glad to see Alberni is moving towards that high retail street direction. That's the way it was envisioned many years ago, but things like recessions and frumpy locals who refuse to dress properly seem to always get in the way.

I can not say exactly who is moving and coming, but I can generally say that Chanel, Prada, Miu Miu, Escada, Anthropologie and Mont Blanc have been looking for space in the Alberni/Burrard Vancouver hotel area. Some may be confirmed but I can't disclose any at the moment and I should not be giving this away as it is. I have connections high up in the fashion industry so I will be able to give regular updates on the high end fashion scene.

UNIQLO is preparing to conquer the World. Their acquisition of The Gap was step one in coming to North America~

Unfortunately, our UNIQLO wouldn't be as cool, probably not having remarkable half-English shirts that make no sense.

I always find it ironic that Vancouver's high end street (Alberni) shares a name with one of the 5 worst ranked places to live in all of Canada (and the worst in 2008).

Oh my God. It was a fun gimmick during the World Cup, but this is over doing it now. I can only imagine how gross and barf-stained that turf must be by now.

And in September, it will be part of the "We're closing Granville everyday until Halloween" and then it will be "We're closing Granville everyday until Christmas!" and they'll put in fake snow This street must never re-open~ Anywho, it amazes me that so many people lined up to buy an, admittedly defective, iPhone 4. Maybe it IS a cult?! They'll buy whatever their religion sells them lol

That's SO true!! Classic!! Imagine if Reigate, Redhill, Godalming, and Virginia Water were all southern suburbs of Vancouver !!
The idea blows one's mind !!
