If Shannex is starting its project this spring and opening up LJR Boulevard, why not build a school in the "Vision Lands" and work toward centralizing growth toward the core, rather than building further and further on the outskirts of the City. Just an idea....

Because this is a "neighbourhood" school for the northwest end, serving a catchment consisting principally of Evergreen Park & Northrup Frye schools. A location in the vision lands on the other hand is arguably more "north-central" Moncton.

I don't want this to become another Moncton High debacle. The school has to be central to it's catchment area.......

I understand your point, but are there 25 acre land parcels anywhere near Ryan Road?

there is Land that accesses both Berry Mills, and Ryan road that is actually more then 25 acres, and would be far enough from both schools currently in the neighborhood, and easily accessible from all areas that would be going there.

Just came into Mapleton Center and it appears they are doing preliminary drill hole testing for the future bridge into the land where Shannex proposed the retirement village.

There is a rumor I heard that a place called Poutine Palace is opening on Mountain Road. Again just a rumor. Has anyone heard anything of this opening.

I had heard something, and looked it up the only location I've found is in Barrie ON, and also found a site that gives you there address in Barrie, and then this:Poutine Palace is a privately held company in Barrie, ON.

So it seems a little strange to me.

Another quiet Moncton PAC meeting coming up (that's two in a row). I presume it's just because of the time of year.

There is a presentation before the PAC for another extension to the Jonathan Park Subdivision off of Ryan Street:

Here is the location map:

Today Bell informed employees that they will not be moving back into their Mapleton Road location. There was so much damage from the fire in January that they have decided to relocate all inside workers to Botsford Street, and find another location for the outside workers and warehouse space.

I wonder if Costco could build here. Unfortunately I think it's too small, but it will be nice to see the land repurposed as something better suited for the area.

Indeed, that land has far more value as potential retail/commercial than it did with Bell Aliant.

It may lay vacant for a period of time, but eventually this will be a good thing.

Flamingos and parrots coming to Magnetic Hill Zoo this summer
Zoo officials hope to build on record 2016 year

I believe there have been parrots have the zoo before, but they have been absent the last several years. Apparently these will be "giant" parrots

As for the flamingos, these will most definitely be a new exhibit. I believe that eventually, they are intended for the new African themed area currently in the planning stage

There is a pair of Hyacinth Macaws at the zoo right now. They have been there for a couple of years. I think they may have come from the Calgary Zoo when it flooded. It is the largest macaw and the largest flying parrot species. As well as wild turkeys, pheasants, owls, chickens, toucan, crane, ostrich and other birds. The Flamingos will be a nice addition but I am not sure in the winter where they will be housed.
