March weather can be pretty wild, the figid Sarnia photos were taken only about 3 weeks before these.

The Victorians are amazing. they're a dime a dozen in Oakland (and there's a couple real nice ones) but they're differently styled than these. Is there such thing as a "West Coast victorian"? lol.

Examples of Oakland Victorians:

The biggest difference I think is that the MI ones look more art-decoish. Great pictures all around btw.

nice photos as usual, flar. i spent a night in port huron, and it was unusual. i did leave alive and not addicted to drugs, but it was strange. i stayed at the flamingo motel, $27/night (i still have the matchbook), and it sure as hell seemed like a $27/night motel. i remember falling asleep to the WXYZ 6 o'clock news and waking up to the sound of someone pounding on the motel manager's door and hearing her and her child leave through the back. good ol' port huron.

Neat pictures. I've only been to Port Huron once, back in high school for the Silver Stick (hockey) finals. I still have a picture of myself (getting destroyed) from the local paper - I even made the front page, haha. It was a good time, from what I remember.

You know, for growing up an hour away, I know surprisingly little about Port Huron. Well, aside from the duty free shop on the way over the blue water bridge.

Nice photos. This place is a classic example of older architecture beats the modern ones. The modern glass buildings are just horrible looking.

Those are some crazy fucking houses! I'll admit that I've seen very little of Port Huron considering the number of times I've been through town.

Great thread, and Port Huron looks great in these photos!

There is a lot of little punch to this little city, but usually it flies way below the radar.

Very interesting. I have been to Port Huron several times (basically right to the boring mall for cheap children't clothes), so I only have had a bird's eye (from bridge) view of downtown.

apparently PH was bigger in 1930 than it is today. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Huron,_Michigan

Great looking photos, the old outdoes the new by a long shot as is often the case.
And you're still getting replies on a 4 or 5 year old thread.

It appears that Sarnia across the river is the "Houston Ship Channel" of Canada with lots of petrochemical plants. Meanwhile, Port Huron specializes/specialized in autos. Interesting.

It's the chemical valley, home to 40% of Canada's petrochemical industry.
