^ Washington State also has a 10,000 square feet requirement, which is interesting. It might be an effort to harmonise regulations with a neighbouring jurisdiction, as well as a convenient way to limit competition with existing private license owners.

As for why Washington implemented the 10,000 ft^2 requirement, I'm guessing it has something to do with Costco backing the bill. Just a guess though.

Why would they disallow sales at larger grocery stores like Superstore and Costco? Weird.

except for the fact that washington doesn't have this stupid shop-in-shop concept and they seem to be doing just fine.

Agreed.

Booze isn't nearly the priority for most people that media outlets seem to think it is and the availability of booze isn't any marker of civilisation.

Versace Home is open in Gastown
- in the location at 310 West Cordova Street where Deluxe Junk Co. had been for many years - how times have changed...

It's not in Steveston, it's on the other side of Richmond just by the tunnel, on 5 Road and Steveston Highway. It's part of a nice little mid-rise project, although unfortunately the Loblaws entrance is on the side of the building looking away from the street, so the street gets a nice view of a giant blank wall instead.

I was on their website and I guess they changed their logo in 2013 and finally bringing it over to BC.
Good to see neon come back to Vancouver. It was almost banned many years ago.

Thanks.

That's not a very "urban" location, is it? and there's Save-on-Foods near there, isn't there?
I guess the area is building up with the former Fantasy Gardens lands project, too.

It's a little "town centre" I guess. It has a massive strip mall, on the southwest corner of the intersection and the Loblaws will be on the northwest. It's actually the ground floor retail of the Fantasy Gardens project you mentioned. The western building has a bunch of retail spots with doors that open to the street, but for some reason the eastern building with the Loblaws you have to actually drive into the apartment complex in order to access it. Like I said, it's a big, windowless wall that's facing the street on that building. The condos above look really nice to me though.

kind of interesting all things considered. There is a lot of competition in that premium segment in that area, and not just from Whole Foods.

I thought they just kept a few stores to liquidate there assets. When they dumped most of there premium locations that showed the market they were done. I did not realize they were still open until I walked into a lower market mall.

Also reading fp Bombay, Bowring and benix are in protection. I am surprised they lasted this long. When you see the same home decor at homesence for less than half the price.

So which retail store will be the next to fail. I think target will be scaled back with store closures by Q2 next year.
