Just about halfway height-wise. ~floor 28, 1 more office then a sky slab, restaurant floor, then 35 floors of residential and a few mechanical for 69 and 251.6m.

I believe the turf is for an off leash area of the park, I saw grass there last week.

Turf just comes across as odd for a dog park for someone that doesn't know too much about it.

I'll take a turf park over a pea gravel park

**edit ... thinking about it,turf makes sense as grass would eventually die

Uh man....what the hell. The second one feels like it would work a lot better with grass, the first park just seems to need an overhaul to really function better..

It's not uncommon at all in Europe. Grass can be a messy waste of time in some locations, so I'm glad to see this in Toronto.

I know that one near Wellesley and Sherbourne well. On a hot summer day, the dark gravel absorbs heat and you can really feel it if you wear open-toed shoes. It's generally avoided by everyone, even though it is in one of the densest corners of the city.

If a park is poorly designed and can serve no other purpose, it should at the very least lower the urban heat island effect by providing organic matter to absorb solar energy. The fact that this "park" can't even do that shows what a total failure of design it is.

An award winner, that one. I believe it's meant to evoke "The North". There's an absolutely huge granite boulder down at the other end.

No, Edmonton just has an abundance of gravel parking lots, which are considerably uglier

There is a pea gravel park in downtown Vancouver that looks alright, much of it used as a dog park. Better than grass for that application as dogs will destroy grass in no time
