I am surprised no one brought this thread back with the opening of the Golden Ears Bridge.

Well it was such a nice day today that i had to drive over the Golden Ears Bridge again and this time I filmed it. No one has captured the entire length of the project yet so i want to so those who are interested how large this project was (it was much more than just a bridge). The film quality is not the best, but I had fun doing it.

PS - I am sorry fro driving in the passing lane, but it was the best lane to use for filming to capture the entire road. Don't worry, at no point was anyone trapped behind me, hehe

The first one is going from Maple Ridge to Surrey and the second one is going from Surrey to Maple Ridge

How long does it actually take to get across the Golden Ears? Becuase I couldn't find the speed limit listed anywheres but it say its 968m which is actually not that long compared to other Canadian Bridges (ie Confederation, and the Halifax Twins).

It is a nice bridge though

EDIT: Just to clear myself up I wasn't trying to sound like a dick I was just trying to get a comparision to bridges I know well ...

Thanks! The video is at 3X normal speed. The 968m is only the bridge span itself (where the towers are) the north approach is well over 500m and the south approach is around 1.5 (maybe 2) kilometers, so overall one is elevated for a good 3km span give or take a few meters.

William R. Bennett Bridge, Kelowna BC. Notice the sections of the old Okanagan Lake Floating Bridge.

4 lanes (barely mind you).

Just in case you're wondering it was taken during rush-hour which is why theres so many vehicles on it.

Victoria's iconic Johnson St. bridge is showing it's age and is slated for replacement. Portions of the bridge are rusting and crumbling away and city hall is looking to secure federal stimulus money to get the job done.

bye bye ol pal

Really?? In a weird way I kinda love that ugly old brute. I'll be sad to see it go. Any word yet on which type of bridge will replace it?

^ I wonder if they will incorporate the railway track, or just relocate the station across the harbour to Esquimalt?

That Orleans Island bridge is very beautiful.

Hopefully the victoria bridge is replaced with something nicer than just a simple flat top. Some form of artistic stonework has to go into a replacement to fit the feel of Victoria.
