Not so much a re-clad as it is a rebuild

No clue, I'm just walking by it now.

There is no photo on the hoarding.

This is a pleasant surprise to me.

When you post the finished result, if I don't respond, it means I missed it. PLEASE PM me, I want to know. lol It's so cool to have a building stripped do much. It could look like anything when they're done.

Yes, fortunately. Look at the photo of Sutton Place Cal posted. It is so ugly, so to give it a make over and adding another 5 floors is very welcome to me.

I don't mind the Sutton place actually. It's a product of the brutalist construction era in Toronto, along with the Manulife Centre, Sheraton Centre, and Ryerson Campus. Still though the recladding project intrigues me.

You'd reclad Manulife Centre?! I love it just the way it is, but then again, I really like brutalism when it's done right, and that is an example of brutalism done right.

If I had the decision, I would possibly leave the Manulife as testament to that period of architecture, even though I don't like it. However, the others, particularly Sutton Place and Sheraton I would be rushing to the top of the list to reclad. I find them so ugly to look at.

I know that's just my personal taste, and others feel completely the opposite way to me, but I can but dream of these being reclad.

Some reclad projects going on in Sault Ste. Marie.
Harbourview Residence is almost finished its reclad and it has only been 3 months. A lot faster than Waverly Place.
Hard to tell the difference but the building is a more beige/peach colour than white now.

All pictures by me.

Days Inn in downtown is also getting a reclad.

Is that recladding or just painting?

A condo in the north end of Thunder Bay is having EIFS applied over top of its existing concrete block facade right now. The new design is so boring that I didn't even bother taking a photo of it.

It was actually reclad, I never had my camera until yesterday to get some pictures.
At the base it was starting to crack so they decided to reclad it. Unfortunately same material but at least it got a colour change.

This one was shown in the Your favorite local rehabilitation projects... thread. An old power plant in Halifax, which was used for many years as the Electropolis film studios, was converted into the NS Power headquarters. There are some interesting details at this link - http://www.nspower.ca/en/home/commun...n/default.aspx.

In order to complete the restoration and re-clad, large sections of concrete had to be cut out to permit windows in the former bunker-like building.

Photos from a tour some of us Halifax forumers took:

More rehabilitation projects just down the road: the long building in the centre is a former warehouse that has been repurposed as, in order from near to far, the new Farmer's Market; a new art college campus; a new immigration museum.
