Packs quite a punch indeed. I love cities this size (I wonder why?). Wonderful pics, especially those sunsets. Thanks for sharing your photography Groninger.

I love cities where the mountains go vertical at the edge of the city. There's some areas of Salt Lake City where that happens. Las Vegas is surrounded by mountains but the valley is too spread out to get those kind of views.

I can only imagine what this city is like in winter!

Wow, neat. So still no access by road, right? So what ferry options are available? I assume north to Anchorage. But are there also regular ferry connections to the south to Vancouver or even Seattle?

Basically, there's a ferry north six hours to a town called "Skagway" that has a road leaving it for the Yukon (how I left). And, there's a ferry south to a city in Washington state called Bellingham. Heading south will keep you on the boat for 3+ days. Craziness.

speaking of that, lets take moment to play some trivia:

along with juneau, there are three other u.s. state capitals that are not served with interstate highways. can you name them?

wow, that is tough. So far i came up with Pierre , SD and Honolulu. I say Honolulu because there isnt a highway to connect to the contiguous 48
