I agree with this guy. London rocks!

From where did you take this one?

Fantastic would be an understatement. I particularly love the one which says "London ends here (72)." Is that really where it ends or is it just a city-boundary?

Le Calmar : I took that photo at the edge of Epping Forest, some 15 km from the city centre. Type that to google maps : 51.6361, -0.0016

ColDayMan : It's actually where the built-up area ends and where the country begins. That picture was taken at 51.6354, 0.0086 . The official boundary is located 600 meters further north, but it's a golf course!

Thanks guys, that city is realy the best place on earth!

It could be Epping Forest for two reasons:
- The photo appears to be taken from the north looking south (the Square Mile to the left, Barbican in the centre)
- The only Royal Forest to the north is Epping Forest (hence the name of the pub in picture #73 - 'Royal Forest')

Epping Forest stretches for quite a bit from Chingford (north London), and I'm presuming that -AX- got a train from London Liverpool Street to Chingford station. Picture 72 was taken probably about 200m from the station.

The abrubt end of urbanity into rural countryside is because London (and other UK cities) has a green belt that does not permit US-style sprawl to occur. Instead you have a shotgun spread of former-market towns that evolved into dormitory settlements connected to London via the vast rail network.

Edit: Noting -AX-'s response - note to self: press send and don't leave for ages

Got a tube to Seven Sisters and then took a bus to Ponders End, which housing estate is shown in the pics above. Quite far off indeed.

Wow that really is off the beaten trek. Must have taken you an age to get to Epping Forest going that way. Must have required a bit of planning or random guessing!

Funny you mention Ponders End now - because the bridge in pic #70 goes across the West Anglia Main Line (the line I use to get into London), but obviously on a speeding train, you don't see Ponders End from that view.

Not really actually, I just walked from PE to Epping forest, i'd say about 45 minutes walk, which is quite nothing to my exploration standards hehe!

Great pics, especially 16 & 17 - I've never seen the Euston Tower looking so glamorous.
