Jackie Washington Rotary Park

HAMILTON, ON – June 25, 2008 – Neighbours, community groups, Public Works staff and City officials celebrate the evolution of the former Plastimet site to a thriving neighbourhood park this Friday, June 27 at 4pm. A partnership between Hamilton’s Public Works department, community organizations and neighbourhoods to rejuvenate city parks. With sponsorship and volunteer support from the Rotary Club of Hamilton, working with volunteers from AAT School, this month-long park makeover includes improvements to shrub beds, trees planting, applying mulch and turfgrass seed, graffiti removal, installation of benches, and refurbishing signs and pathways. Through this unique partnership, the Park -- which was a former brownfield and site of the 1997 Plastimet fire -- has been renewed for the enjoyment of area residents and the staff and patrons of the neighbouring Hamilton General Hospital.
