I dunno, i think the building comes to a much nicer climax (and has a better silouette) without the antenna.

Anyone know the diameter of the very top tip of the Chrysler building antenna? It looks like it's pointy enough to pierce through someone's body.

The spire itself looks more strinking because it is the actual peak of the building visually. The antenna extends the height, and makes it look larger, but the spire is diminished as a result.

My Empire State Building Video From 2 Years ago (Nov 14, 2010).

This is a video I shot 2 years ago while in the city & on top of the Empire State Building! :-) Enjoy! I like how the Skyline changed downtown on the South Side of the building! :-) 1WTC Freedom Tower was getting higher at that time! :-) Here is my video link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVkFSFhgdt4

Apparently the ESB has been making updates on Facebook and there is a "gift" to the city of NY planned at 9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26th. They said to look to the sky, so... probably something with the LED's.

So Carlos make sure you are watching from your place to get some pictures or video!!!

I was right about the LED show tonight... here is what ESB posted on Facebook this morning:

We're thrilled to announce that in partnership with Philips Color Kinetics, iHeartRadio and Alicia Keys, we will premiere our new LED lights with a spectacular light show! http://prn.to/UnErHj After flipping the switch, Alicia Keys will play her hit songs "Girl on Fire" and "Empire State of Mind" in synchronization with the lights. To hear the music as you watch the show, tune in to Clear Channel's NYC stations: Z100, 103.5 KTU, Power 105.1, or 106.7 Lite FM. Not in New York City? Video of the light show can be viewed on-demand at iHeartRadio.com by 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27.

So Carlos, check it out!

EMPIRE STATE BUILDING GIVES GIFT TO NEW YORK CITY – AND THE WORLD –
WITH ITS FIRST-EVER LED TOWER LIGHT SHOW FEATURING ALICIA KEYS

November 26, 2012

Quote:
Tonight, the world-famous Empire State Building (ESB), in collaboration with Clear Channel Media and Entertainment and 14 time Grammy® Award winner, Alicia Keys, will give a gift to New York City and the world by revealing ESB’s new, one-of-a-kind LED tower lights with a first-ever light show on the Landmark. This show marks the official unveiling of a groundbreaking new LED lighting system, developed by the world’s leader in LED lighting Philips Color Kinetics (PCK).

At 9:00 p.m. ET, Alicia Keys will help kick off the light show by flipping the switch live in Clear Channel New York City studios with Elvis Duran, Z100; DJ Clue, Power105; Helen Little, 106.7 Lite fm; and Cubby, 103.5 KTU—a moment that will be synchronized on-air to two of Keys’ tracks—her single from her new album “Girl on Fire,” followed by her smash hit “Empire State of Mind.” New Yorkers and those in the surrounding area with a view of ESB can tune into one of four Clear Channel radio stations—Z100, 103.5 KTU, Power105, and 106.7 Lite fm—as the stations simultaneously play accompanying music to the light show. The light show will be hosted for on-demand viewing at iHeartRadio.com, home to Clear Channel’s digital radio service, by 10 a.m., on Tuesday, November 27.

The state-of-the-art dynamic lighting system from PCK is unique to ESB and allows customized light capabilities from a palette of over 16 million colors in limitless combinations along with effects previously not possible such as ripples, cross-fades, sparkles, chasers, sweeps, strobes and bursts. In addition to greater control and management of the lighting, the new computerized system will deliver superior light and vibrancy levels in real-time, unlike the previous floodlights.
