Congrats St Louis! I was hoping it would be a team who hasn't won the cup before

Nice to see St Louis take it. It also makes me feel like any half decent team can take it on a given year if they get on a good run.

St. Louis was one of the teams I was rooting for this year. I'm glad they took the cup, especially from Boston!

Happy to see the St. Louis Blues win a Stanley Cup after so many years of heartbreak.

As a fan of the Jets, it further solidifies my belief that the Jets would have won the Stanley Cup had they not run into the Blues juggernaut in the first round of the playoffs.

Someone posted an interesting graphic on Facebook.

The Bruins had 15 of 26 players from the U.S., and only 4 Canadians. The rest are a mix of the usual NHL nationalities. Even in 2019 I did not think there were any teams in the NHL that had such a high percentage of Americans.

The Blues had 19 of 26 players from Canada, and only 3 Americans.

I've posted about this topic before on this forum where the proportion of Americans in the NHL is increasing as the proportion of Canadians is decreasing.

Karlsson resigns in SJ for $88M and 8 years. Is he going to be able to play all that? dude has some injury problems that will hold him back in the future (Achilles).

Ya the Canucks were kicking his tires and im glad it didnt go through. He looked old and battered in the playoffs.
Lordknows we need a ton of defence help tho.

^Or next year if the surgery rehab doesn't go 100%. That is a gigantic risk move. Risky move for Karlsson too if he really wants to win a cup. That's an unmovable contract if I ever saw one. He must really like bay area life.

I can't say that would be bad. San Jose isn't San Francisco from a commuting to the rink standpoint and he's got all of the area for time off. Not a bad place to be, but yikes San Jose.

Fixed your post.

AFAIK, the UFA interview period hasn't begun yet. Not that the canucks are above this sort of conduct.

I thought that at first as well but I think his post was more about trade deadline times.

I thought he would get his 11 - 11.5 million per season, but only for 5 years due to health concerns. I guess San Jose knew someone else would sign him longer term if they didn't ante up.

On a positive note, for the Jets, with one less defenceman on the market the price to trade for Trouba increased a little.

Is Myers on the way out for sure?

Jets are in talks with Myers, but the feeling is he will attract more in free agency (probably upwards of $6 million per season) than the Jets would like to offer ($4.0 - $5 million). Personally I think $6 million is too high as well for a guy who is a #4 or #5 d-man, but some team out there will pay it and end up being disappointed with some aspects of his play...d-zone coverage for one thing.

Well the Canucks have room and are desparate for D-men so i can see them overpaying for him. Lots of talk on local sports radio about it here in BC.
