AndrewK - Thanks for the update. I am disappointed to see gray & black window frames. I think the city has enough of black & gray combos already. Hopefully the fill between the windows will be some kind of stone with some color as pictured in the original architectural renderings. I suspect the scaffolding going up may be for the stone masons. We will know soon.

I am a fan of 77 Van Ness (I spent a lot of time in the neighborhood when that was going up), so I hope we get something similar.

I'll be very surprised if there are any stone masons. More likely there will be pre-fab panels. The quality of these can vary widely and will make or break the facade.

couldn't remember if this is the lot which sat half-dug-up forever, and didn't peek over the fence to see if there were any signs of recent activity, but in any case, could be this



at Moscone Center, they've removed the old pedestrian bridge over Howard...



... and appear to be re-pouring the roadway

Demolition of the main building will definitely be an architectural loss for the area!

forgot these: the mid-block passage, at Abaca in Dogpatch, is open (though still getting some finishing touches). it's supposed to evoke the pier (and perhaps marsh) that used to exist on the site when it was a rope manufacturing facility

SF transit agency to vote on $21B wish list, including new subway at West Portal

. . . one section of the SFMTA’s capital plan, which is essentially a budget, expanded by nearly $850 million as the agency ramps up plans to put the M-Oceanview train line underground.

This potential new light-rail tunnel would run between West Portal and Parkmerced and see portions of 19th Avenue redesigned with a bike path and landscaping, all to the tune of at least $2.5 billion. This project, which has not yet been approved, includes a “substantial increase in the length of the tunnel” and additional underground stations, the SFMTA staff wrote in the capital plan . . . .

In a win for streetcar fans, $80 million was estimated in a potential pitch to extend the F-Market & Wharves historic streetcar line to Fort Mason, and the E-Embarcadero historic streetcar may receive its own independent track loop and terminal for $10 million . . . .

The largest housing proposal in San Francisco's Mission district may add subsidized teacher housing in the face of strong neighborhood opposition.

Developer Maximus Real Estate is considering an unspecified number of below-market-rate units reserved for teachers at 1979 Mission St., adjacent to the 16th Street BART station.

The developer's most recent plan calls for 290 on-site market-rate rental units, 41 affordable on-site condos and 49 off-site rental units, or 23.6 percent affordable housing overall. It wasn't clear how the proposal would be modified . . . .
