Implying that rioting is a Vancouver thing is completely disingenuous.

That's a little like saying "hey, some old lady tripped the other day on the curb, and there's a war in Afghanistan - therefore both places are equally violent because people got injured in both cases".
What happened in Edmonton was maybe 1% of what Vancouver saw. I'm pretty sure Edmontonians weren't burning police cars and looting half of downtown in 2006. Unless there was a huge media conspiracy to keep things hushed up, all because we secretly hate Vancouver and just try to make them look bad.
In short, you guys are talking apples and oranges. I don't think anyone's implying that rioting is ONLY a Vancouver thing. The implication is that so far, only Vancouver (and arguably to a lesser extent, Montreal) has had a real, honest-to-goodness make-international-headlines type riot over hockey. Fortunately we're extremely unlikely to see a repeat this year.
PS: who are these guys and what have they done with my Flames? It's almost like a real hockey team in this city. Double yew tee eff.
