Smile Freki presents The Wild Wild West

Howdy buckaroos!

Back in August my girlfriend and I went on a roadtrip in the western USA ( California, Utah, Nevada and Arizona ) with the goal of seeing some of the great nature experiences the region offers.. ( something I hadn't really done on earlier trips to the region )

As always I took a buttload of photos and as always I'm going to make a thread sharing some of them..

I got something planned for more extensive coverage of the various areas, but that will have to wait a bit, until then here's a mix of the various places we visited..

And yes, while this is mostly nature there are city pics too, so if red rocks doesn't do it for you I hope you enjoy the shots from Las Vegas, San Francisco and Los Angeles

Enough jibber jabber partner, let's head out west shall we.. yeehaw!

We start out in Las Vegas - Nevada

Valley of Fire State Park - Nevada

Kanab - Utah

Dixie National Forest - Utah

What hides beyond the forest?

Welcome to Bryce Canyon National Park - Utah

"Thors Hammer"

Kanab - Utah

Back in Nevada

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

Griffith Observatory - Los Angeles

Hollywood

Beverly Hills

Santa Monica

San Francisco

Crossing the Central Valley en route to the Sierra Nevada Mountains

Welcome to Yosemite National Park

And here we have Sequoia National Park ( and me driving our rental car through a tree )

General Sherman - world's largest tree ( ~2000tons )

Was hoping to see a bear, but sadly no luck

And finally we have Death Valley National Park

And here from Dante's View we can see the lowest point in the US: Badwater Basin ( -86m )

And here we have the Badwater Basin salt lake up close

And finally here I am enjoying the 47C ( in the shade )

That's all partners - but by all means let me know what you liked ( or disliked ) as I have something on the drawing board that will cover the various areas on the planet I visit in more detain and I as always greatly appreciate feedback!

Beautiful set of photos. Just incredible.

To me, there's no place more beautiful than southern Utah, all the way from the western border to eastern border. I noticed the photo taken in Kanab. Looks very familiar. Was it by any chance taken at the Quail Park Lodge? I stayed at that retro motel in 2009 and loved it. I was volunteering that week at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, which at 33,000 acres, is the largest in the country and possibly the world.

It's taken at this point: https://www.google.dk/maps/place/99+...4d-112.5347871

( a small parking lot overlooking Kanab Creek about 200m south of the Lodge you mention )

We stayed at the newly opened Hampton Inn Kanab - a quite nice place with a very contemporary interior design )

Fcking Vegas, blah.

Loved the rest though and a remind of how much a dislike those who live in California;(

Maybe not the best food, but what a fun place to sit on a patio at night as a cafe/bar.

Wonderful pics! The West and its diversity is incredible, still some of my favorite parts of the U.S.
