And Metrotower 3 will make it so Metrotown has 3 office towers over 100 meters (and a few others over 50 meters), not that bad for a suburb as well. And again, mass transit (which Bellevue may be getting soon as well, but for now they don't)
Rather than looking at height, why not also compare total square footage and density? Which has more square footage of office, commercial, and residential? Which has more density of each within their defined boundaries?

Guys that conversation really doesn't belong in here, it's a worthy discussion to have but in the appropriate thread.

Yeah true, got off track there, haha!

So again, anyone know where we can find the official heights of these towers?

Also, when are they going for approval and how realistic is the July 2012 start date?

Oops - just saw JLousa's post -

Posted earlier:

But downtown New Westminster is a jobs/employment centre.

Here's an outdated tourist map of Bellevue (doesn't show Lincoln Square or the Bravern):

http://mappery.com/map-of/Tourist-ma...ntown-Bellevue

Which regional town centre in Metro Vancouver has:
a convention centre,
office towers,
condo towers,
art gallery,
downtown park,
city hall, and
a regional shopping mall?

again, we are done this debate, anyone have answers to the questions i posted above about these towers?

I am asking because the second or third phase of it, depending on the price per square footage, i may finally be financially capable to buy a unit to live in, and this is an area i would be interested t live in.

went by the site today, everything in fenced in but the Kelsey's. I guess that corner will be one of the later stages. If brentwood mall gets started as well, there will be a race between metro and brentwood for densest urban town centers.

I don't know the heights but I'll see what I can find out over the weekend. I hope the height doesn't play any say into your decision to purchase though.
A start date of July 2012 seems ambitious but it's certainly possible.

hehe, the height part is just for my skyscraper interest side, connection to transit, shopping, layout of units, building amenities, etc... is what i use to choose. Also, it is close to the freeway so i can escape to the interior and see my friends and relatives in Maple Ridge easier. Also, nice mid point between downtown and Coquitlam (where many more of my friends and relatives live)

Very excited about the new development here. Also glad we are getting another grocery store.

Aside from Save On Foods, the Brentwood area is lacking another grocery store.

More office and condo towers can only mean more businesses will set up shop. Win win for all!

FYI those reasons also influenced me to choose Brentwood. I can't think of a better neighbourhood in the region that balances proximity with downtown and proximity to suburban-family-visists so well
I've lived in the area for about 3 months now and it is awesome. And all these new developments (which I will have a great view of) are only going to make it better.

Big news, it looks like they are serious about this project!

Just went by the site and several of the buildings there are currently being demolished and it looks like they are erecting large wooden fence posts along the corner to post billboard advertising material.

So what do you guys guess for height? The first tower (45 floors) is about 120, 130 meters?? Phase 2 with the office portion must be approaching 140.

If the 48 floor version has 14 floors of office (which it looks like) and 34 floors of residential I would imagine it would be a minimum of 145m.

14 floors office @ 4m ceiling height
34 floors residential @ 2.75m ceiling height
=
149.50m

The towers also look to have decorative crowns that must add a good chunk of height as well.

I know some friends that do not like the Metrotown area and considered the Brentwood area as an excellent alternative to living in Burnaby. This will just make the area even better many years from now.
