North Road was widened a bit as part of the Evergreen construction. But thankfully not too much, why you would want to run a giant stroad through a transit oriented development area, I have no idea - the skytrain line is there for a reason. Does Coquitlam really need to have wider streets than Vancouver does? North Road is already 7 lanes where it meets Austin. Plus the development of the Burquitlam area means fewer people need to drive from there down to Lougheed, since most things you would need are already in Burquitlam. Most N-S through traffic can and does use Gaglardi, Blue Mountain or Lougheed Highway.
The real transformation in Burquitlam is from gas station, fast food and autobody shop lined stroad to walkable neighbourhood. As for the trains, as long as there is high frequency and enough capacity (which there is, with ridership still below pre-Covid levels, albeit recovering better than almost anywhere else in the English-speaking world), then I'm not sure the length of the train matters too much.
