I was under the impression they made their crane pad at the front of the site a long time ago.

Today, there are trailers on site and excavators are digging.

Good news is right. I'm assuming utility work is getting underway.

I'm all for density, but it'd be nice if the construction crews could show some respect for those of us who already live in the neighbourhood.

The crews from RRS Enterprise Concrete Contractors started working at 6:10am this morning and are still going now (now 10:30 pm). I'm in the Bessborough, so my windows are quite literally a few feet away from the work. Is it too much to ask for city noise by-laws to be followed?

There's a poster by the mailboxes with numbers you can call to file noise complaints.

It looks like D will get 2 crains.

D's in the process of reorganizing to avoid bankruptcy at the moment from what I'm hearing, so It'll be interesting to see how many cranes that site ever sees.

Architect was dropped, realtor has switched brokerages, project has been scaled way back, and now Mistecture - a firm run by somebody who has never completed anywhere close to a high-rise structure and sources her drawings from China - is in charge.

There's lots of money outstanding and they've been desperately sourcing equity from the likes of some of the larger homebuilders is what I'm being told.

EDIT: Just a hedge here, but rumors like this fly about projects of this nature all the time. If you're a purchaser, you're well served to contact the sales people before acting on anything you read here. Oftentimes where there's smoke there's fire, but not in every case.

^ Sounds dire. I was pretty optimistic about D given that they appear to be doing a fair bit of work at the site, but based on Simplicity's comment it seems more like window dressing. What is the scaled-back project going to look like?

As far as I know the original Architect (Verne Reimer) was dropped and Mistecture has come in and assumed the drawings that already exist. If they don't get contracts out within the next month (April) the project may be scrapped.

So why would the architect be dropped like that? Unless they're incompetent, how could an architect scuttle a project like this? Unless there's a pissing match going on.

You and Simplicity have burst my balloon... and on a Friday, no less.

This is unfortunate... so now Assiniboine Avenue gets a vacant lot. Or can Sandhu rejig this thing to at least built a lowrise development of some kind? Even a decent 5-storey condo would suit the area and be a lot better than nothing.
